Our executive team is composed of a variety of students from multiple faculties of study and disciplines of engineering. Each person on this team has their own skills and knowledge to provide the team with experience and strong leadership. They will guide and take part in every aspect of creating the rover, as well as conduct frequent checks to ensure that the rover is on track and up to CIRC standards.

Aaron BornPresident
Aaron first joined the Schulich Space Rover Team in Fall 2021 as a Mechatronics team member, and became a Mechatronics Team Lead the following spring. As an Electrical Engineering student with a minor in Mechatronics, he applied his knowledge and skills to make key contributions to the design, development, and assembly of the team's first generation robotic arm which became a key factor to the SSRT's success in CIRC 2022. When Alexis, the team's founder and former President, graduated from both engineering and the team in 2023, he was excited to take the mantle as second ever President of the SSRT.
On top of successfully building a more robust, versatile, and capable rover, Aaron's main goal for the 2023-2024 season is to define a team structure and design framework that can be used as a solid foundation going forward. He is confident that the SSRT team will continue to grow and become a household name at the Schulich School of Engineering, persisting and succeeding for years to come. He is grateful for all the SSRT team members for all their time, effort, and contributions to the team, and is so incredibly excited to see what they can achieve this year! |
Josh HicklingVice President
Josh is in his 3rd year of a finance degree. He has be interested in robotics since high school, where he did many summer camps and projects. He also has a passion for business and finance leading him to pursuing a business degree. Josh stays connected with robotics by supporting the team's business initiatives as the business team lead and vice president. Euan HardyProject Manager
As a member of SSRT since 2020, Euan has seen and been a part of our club through many significant milestones. Ever since high school, Euan has had a keen interest in robotics which inspired him to go into Electrical engineering. Now in his 3rd year he leads the Power team as we overhaul our power systems design along with other testing equipment. He is also a Project manager alongside Joshua L. as we oversee the direction and outputs of our ambitious projects.

Joshua LiuProject Manager
Joshua is in his 2nd year in Computer Science. His interest in robotics started in high school when he joined a FTC robotics team. In his senior year in high school, he was the captain and helped the team win a medal in championships. Since the experience, Joshua has been keen on learning new skills to apply to the rover and guiding teammates closer to their goals on the team. As a hobby, he creates small projects to practice newly acquired skills!

Liam WorkmanMechanical-Arm Lead
Hi! My name is Liam Workman. I have recently finished my 4th year in mechanical engineering (with a minor in mechatronics), and am currently on internship at Canadian Natural Resources Limited. Robotics has always been a fascination of mine, which is why I joined the SSRT back in 2022. It has been an amazing opportunity to learn, hone my mechanical skills, and meet new people, and as a team lead I hope to provide that same experience to others while making the rover the best it can be!

Evan SoontiensMechanical-Rover Lead
I'm Evan, a third-year mechanical engineering student, and I joined the Schulich Space Rover Team out of my fascination with everything space-related. I also wanted to engage more in clubs and teams beyond just my academic classes. Since joining the team in September 2022, I've thoroughly enjoyed learning and becoming proficient in SOLIDWORKS. Delving into the overall design process of a major project like the space rover has been incredibly enlightening. I hope that all members of the mechanical team share the same keen interest in the rover as I do.

Abdelrahman BekhitControls-Integration Lead
Hey there, my name is Abdelrahman Bekhit, and I am in my third year of software engineering. What made me join SSRT? Well, it started with me watching Michael Reeves as a way to pass time, then AI videos, then coding every single day. Soon I found myself as the co-lead for the controls division of the Rover. Beyond the academics, I am a heavy enthusiast of anime, my favorite being Jujutsu Kaizen, I also enjoy working out at the gym. Additionally, I enjoy spending time with my friends and meeting new people. My last message is that I hope to make the club reach for the stars, quite literally.
